Bottle Changer and Battalion Assignments!!

There seems to be a "B" theme with these blog titles for some reason...not sure why. :)

Since we last updated the blog, many things have happened regarding our climb!

Firstly, we convinced Mike Lane that he should come down to Seattle with us to do our  bottle change!  Though we are not sure on ALL the details, we know that Mike has to report to the 40th floor, two air bottles in hand, at 8:30am the morning of the race!  We have been practicing with him at the gym and the fire hall. He seems to average 30-40 seconds per change!  Awesome!  The faster he changes our respective bottles at Floor 40, the sooner we get back to the task at hand:  Plodding up...and up...and up...to the 73rd floor!

We also got our battalion assignments last Friday!  Dee Dee will be starting the climb around 1:20pm and I'll be about 30 minutes later.  Everything is approximate and we need to be in the lobby an hour prior.  Though it seems like a really organized race, there are all kinds of factors that could affect our actual start time.  Starting at 9:00am, racers begin the climb at 15 second intervals.  Pretty tight expectations considering they are trying to organize about 1500 racers, over 250 bottle changers, and loads of volunteers.  We are both glad we are not at the very end of the day (3:30pm is the last battalion departure time), nor early with the hard core returning folks!  It is nice to have an idea of when we will be heading to the lobby and beginning the climb!

The training continues, with multiple visits to the gym stair stepper, some running, swimming, etc. Though I don't really FEEL it, I know that I must be getting stronger...good thing.  It is a long, long way straight up.
